Are the online prices real, or will they change?
▾
The prices on the website and in the configurator are the same prices that appear on your invoice. The only time the final number changes is if you add scope during the in-home estimate — and if that happens, we tell you before we touch anything. "The estimate is the invoice" is not a tagline. It's how we run every job.
What does the clear-out service actually include?
▾
We rent a U-Haul cargo van or truck (depending on garage size), park it in your driveway, and the crew empties your entire garage into it. While we finish the walls and install shelving, your stuff is safely in the truck. When the job is done, we bring it back in and place it where you want it. It's included free in every Ready-Made package and $450 optional in Build-Your-Own for a 2-car. This is the single most common reason customers tell us they finally pulled the trigger.
My garage already has drywall. Do I still need your Smooth Coat Finish?
▾
In most cases, yes. Most Twin Cities builders install base drywall with one skim coat — technically enough to pass inspection, but nowhere near the smooth, paint-ready surface you'd expect inside your home. Our Smooth Coat Finish adds two professional coats, sanding between each, priming, and a satin garage-grade enamel. The difference is significant. If you prefer the modern look without the wall work, slatwall panels are a great alternative.
Do you work in winter? What about Minnesota cold?
▾
Yes — year-round. Wall finishing (smooth coat, paint, slatwall) is done indoors and is not affected by outside temperature. Most floor coating companies shut down November through April because polyaspartic and epoxy coatings require at least 55°F surface temperature. Our work has no such constraint. We've finished garages in February with -14°F outside and the results are identical to June.
How long does a typical job take?
▾
A Refresh package on a 2-car garage typically takes 2–3 days. A Modern is 2 days. A Showcase is 3–4 days. We send a crew of 2, arrive at 8am, and give you a daily check-in at the end of each shift. You won't be chasing us down for updates.
What's slatwall, and is it load-rated for storage?
▾
Slatwall is a PVC or composite panel with horizontal grooves that accept hooks and accessories. In Northwork's offer, decorative slatwall is installed for visual effect — it dramatically modernizes the look of the garage. However, slatwall panels alone are not load-rated for heavy hook-and-storage use. If you want to hang bikes, tools, or heavy items from your walls, we recommend adding our load-rated shelving options (wire, wood, overhead rack, steel rack, or pegboard) which are anchored directly into studs.
Can I add an EV charger or TV? How is that priced?
▾
Yes to both. Premium add-ons like EV chargers, mounted TVs, LED lighting, and custom workbenches are quoted live during your in-home estimate — not on the website — because the price depends on your existing electrical panel, wall layout, and exact placement. We work with a licensed electrician for EV charger installs. You can flag your interest in any add-on using the checkboxes in the configurator and we'll be prepared to quote them when we visit.
What does the 2-year warranty cover?
▾
The warranty covers workmanship — specifically, paint adhesion (no peeling or bubbling), slatwall fastening (no loosening panels), and shelf load capacity (no sagging or anchor failure under normal use). It does not cover damage from vehicle impact, flooding, or modifications by others. If something fails under normal conditions within two years, we come back and fix it at no charge.
Do you do floor coatings?
▾
We don't do floor coatings ourselves — it's not our specialty and we won't do work we can't warrant. But we have a vetted floor coating partner we refer customers to, and we coordinate the sequencing so wall work and floor work happen in the right order without conflict. If you want both done, tell us and we'll set up the referral.
How do I pay? Is there a payment plan?
▾
We collect a 50% deposit at scheduling (by invoice via Jobber — credit card, check, or bank transfer). The remaining 50% is collected at walkthrough after you've signed off on the completed work. We don't require full payment upfront and we don't collect final payment until the job is done to your satisfaction. Payment plans are not currently available, but the deposit-and-balance structure keeps cash moving fairly for both parties.
